Smithfield-Selma High junior Rachel Pazur will represent Johnston County in choral music at the North Carolina Governor’s School auditions on Feb. 18.
Established for elite students in a variety of fields such as Math, English, Social Sciences, and Chorus, NC Governor’s School is a five-week program that is designed to bring selected students from across the state together to focus on their individual fields of expertise.
Pazur’s audition will focus on a solo performance and sight singing.
To reach the state level, rising seniors must first submit an application and a recommendation letter at the county level. Students then audition and are selected to advance to the next round at the state level.
“I’m not really nervous, but I am ready for the competition,” Pazur said. “I want to know how I stack up against my peers in the state.”
