Sandra Morris, Principal

It is my pleasure to continue to serve as your principal this year. The past two years have been amazing and I am so proud of the many accomplishments we have accomplished together. This is my tenth year in educational leadership. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities. I am fortunate to have an amazing team alongside me to continue the traditions of Clayton Middle School as we also create some new ones of our own. I am dedicated to this community and all stakeholders that pour into our school. I am blessed to be a part of such a supportive group of individuals.

It is my privilege to lead Clayton Middle School and its many talented teachers and students.  My goal is to continue to provide a supportive climate and culture that is conducive to teaching and learning. By doing so, each individual student and teacher can experience growth to their highest potential. I look forward to continuing to interact with all stakeholders in our school community and we continue to break barriers within our school and community this year!

Hello Eagle Family!

This is my fourth year at Clayton Middle School and I’m very happy to be with a school that functions like a family! I have learned so much from being here and each experience helps me grow as an administrator. I am proud of all the accomplishments our school has garnered and know we will continue to do great things! We continue to build our diverse culture and respect for the community. I am honored to be a leader in the building and I am thankful to be given a platform to help support everyone in the building.

I received my Associate's Degree in Liberal Studies at Danville Community College in 2000, then went on to graduate from Longwood University with my Bachelors in English Education in 2003. I graduated with my Masters in School Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2010. I have also received Academically Gifted Certification from North Carolina Central University. I am currently a doctoral student at UNC Chapel Hill studying Education Leadership in the Ed.D program. I believe that learning is lifelong.

I actively attend NOW church in Chapel Hill where I work with the Youth Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and Young Adult Ministry. I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC, and serve in the Knightdale-Wake Forest Alumnae Chapter. I love early morning workouts, decorating any space, and spending time with family and friends.

Hey Clayton Eagles! Allow me to introduce myself as your new Assistant Principal. As I join this new family, I am beyond excited to share in the success CMS has had these past few years. I will work hard at getting to know you while finding ways to support your student to be the best version of themselves.

I earned a Master of School Administration (MSA) degree from NC State in 2020, after 12 years in the classroom with a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Childhood Education with a focus on Math and Science. With over a 17 years of experience in education, I have served as an Assistant Principal at Smithfield-Selma High School for five years, and have previously taught middle school Math and Science for six years and 9th grade Earth and Environmental Science for two years. Additionally, I was an AVID Coordinator and Curriculum Coach for JCPS for four years.

Outside of my professional achievements, this summer marked 15 years of marriage with my husband Jon. We have three sons—Wesley (12), and twins Elliot and Bennett (10)—along with a new puppy, Winnie. I am passionate about sports, particularly supporting my favorite team, The Ohio State Buckeyes. I am excited to join the Eagle family and look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
