Our Mission
The Counseling & Student Services Department works to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to discover their potential to become lifelong learners. Through the delivery of a comprehensive counseling program, students will develop into innovative thinkers and problem-solvers prepared to compete at the colleges and in the careers of their choice.
I support student success in a number of ways. My primary responsibility is to promote success within the school environment. I recognize that students' overall well-being is fundamental to academic achievement, and I encourage students to see me when encountering academic, social, or personal difficulty. Counselors address the concerns of students and, when necessary, connect them and families with the resources they may need, both inside and outside of school.
Our Programs
JCCTLA offers students the opportunity to earn college credit and degrees while completing high school requirements. Students can choose from five program pathways:
Meet Your Counselor
A little about me: I grew up in upstate New York and relocated to North Carolina when I was in high school. I graduated from North Carolina State University with B.A. in Psychology. I continued my education at East Carolina University earning a M.A.Ed. in Counseling. I am licensed through the NC Department of Public Instruction (K-12) and the NC Board for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC). I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I am owned by two very spoiled cats, Jingles and Sofie. I love the Yankees and baseball. In my spare time, I am a photographer and love to travel for new photo opportunities.
