If you are a parent, physician, or child care teacher and have concerns about overall development for a preschool aged child and would like to make a referral for an exceptional children’s evaluation:

Please call Joanna Bryant at 919-934-1697 ext. 1053.  You will need to provide information on the child’s physical, motor, educational, communication, behavioral and daily living skills in a phone interview. A screening and/or referral meeting will be scheduled after the phone interview. 

If you are a parent of a preschool aged child with an IEP that has recently moved into Johnston County: 

• From another County within North Carolina:
  Please call 919-934-1697 ext. 1053 to schedule a meeting to determine comparable services and review the IEP.  You will need to provide the preschool department with a copy of your child’s IEP prior to the meeting. 

• From another State:

Si es padre, médico o maestro de cuidado infantil y le preocupa el desarrollo general de un niño en edad preescolar y desea hacer una referencia para una evaluación de niños excepcionales:

Deberá proporcionar información sobre las habilidades físicas, motoras, educativas, de comunicación, de comportamiento y de la vida diaria del niño en una entrevista telefónica. Se programará una cita de examen inicial y /o una reunión de referencia después de la entrevista telefónica.

Si usted es padre de un niño en edad preescolar con un Programa de Educación Individualizada (IEP) que se mudó recientemente al condado de Johnston:

Por favor llame a Irene Escamilla al 919-934-4361 ext. 1053 para programar una reunión para determinar servicios equivalentes y revisar el IEP. Deberá proporcionar al departamento de preescolar una copia del IEP de su hijo antes de la reunión.
