Welcome to the home of the Riverwood Elementary School RAMS! For those of you visiting our website for the first time, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Leigh White and I am proud to call myself a Riverwood RAM. I am a native of Knightdale and attended Wake County Schools. Our family has lived in Clayton for eleven years. Our three children attend Clayton area schools! Our children are involved in various types of sports and activities. In our spare time, we spend as much time as possible at the beach and the lake!
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University. I went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University. Go Pack! I spent my teaching career in Wake County and taught 2nd and 5th grades. I began my administrative career in Johnston County Schools at Clayton Middle School as an assistant principal for four years. I then became principal at Meadow School and had the pleasure to serve there for five years prior to joining the Riverwood family. I am honored to be the principal at Riverwood! Even in my fourth year as principal of this great school, I am still constantly in awe of the support we receive from our parents and community members! Thank you so much! Your support is truly appreciated! I encourage you to maintain an active role in our school and in your child's education.
I have been an educator for twenty years and have been blessed to be called to this great profession. Please know that I am here first and foremost for the benefit of our most important assets, which are the wonderful students that come through our doors each day. I wake up each morning excited and committed to supporting our students, our school, our staff, our community, and our parents. Helping children to succeed in all they set out to do is my passion. I love what I do and it makes my day when students enjoy coming to school, have a love of learning, and feel like they are an important part of our school family. I am also a huge advocate of reading. If you walk into my office, you will see a bookshelf full of books for children. I love to watch a child learn to read and become a lifelong lover of reading. You will often hear me tell the students to read, read, read!
