The survey results are in, and the decision has been made for the traditional calendar to implement Option 1.

Voting Results: (ConnectEd and EdChat)
Option 1:  9019 = 85%
Option 2:  1600 = 15%

Johnston County Schools​ ​will​ ​waive all three snow days​ ​and​ ​will​ ​maintain the current​ ​instructional day schedule that has the additional 10 minutes added since Hurricane Matthew.  Two teacher workdays will be added to the end of the year in order to meet the requirements of the 215 staff calendar.​

This option allows for greater flexibility in being able to waive days in the future if we receive any more winter weather. ​
The next Johnston County Board of Education meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. and take place at the Simpson Building in Smithfield.
