October Character Ed Students

Character Education is a priority for Johnston County Public Schools. Through a variety of means, schools in the district promote character education through rewards, bulletin boards, presentations, and interactive lessons. Each month the Johnston County Board of Education recognizes students who have demonstrated good character. Below are the students recognized for October.


VEDA SWAN

McGee's Crossroads Elementary 

5th Grade

Respect - Understanding that all people have value as human beings.

Veda Swan, is a fifth grade student, who continuously demonstrates a level of maturity in the school setting , modeling positive behavior for her peers. She is attentive in class and listens intently as her teachers and peers speak, waiting her turn to add to the conversation. 

When she does not agree with the opinions of others, Swan is able to express that in a respectful manner.  She advocates for herself in the classroom, and has expressed to teachers when she did not like a specific style of an assignment. 

Swan understands that her feelings and opinions are important, while also acknowledging that those who view things differently, may not align with her beliefs. She is welcoming to all of her classmates and treats everyone as equals. 


REID ROBERTS

McGee's Crossroads Middle 

8th Grade

Responsibility - Being accountable for your own actions.

Reid Roberts stands out from the crowd as a respectful and responsible young man. He is committed to his individual assignments, and to the school. He is a leader who works hard daily to give his best at all times. 

Roberts is empathetic, and upholds the ideals of the McGee's Middle Crossroads Middle Mustang Pledge: to give his best, to listen, to follow directions, to be honest, to respect the rights of others, and to be resilient.

In addition to being an excellent student, Roberts is involved in extracurricular activities, such as football, where he is the captain of the team . Not only is Roberts responsible to himself, his peers, teachers, and school, he is also very kind, displays good manners, and is trustworthy. Reid Roberts is a great student, and an even better person.


Alessandra Lima

West View Elementary

5th Grade

Respect - Understanding that all people have value as human beings.

Alessandra Lima, is a 5th grade student at West View Elementary. Lima has been selected as West View Elementary Student of the Month five years in a row because she does an excellent job representing all the characteristics of a true Wise Owl student.  She works hard in class, completes her work on time, and is a kind friend to everyone.
