November 7, 2023 - JC Board of Education Meeting Actions
The Johnston County Board of Education held their regular session meeting on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Below is a list of agenda items presented for action. All exhibit sheets and background information are on the eBoards agenda.
Board Meeting Highlights:
Approved Budget Resolution:
The board approved the proposed budget resolution, which included the following highlights. Many of these highlights are consistent with the district’s areas of focus, including employee compensation, school safety and security, recruitment and retention, and the funding of school supplies. See the highlights below:
$7 million+ recruiting and retention bonus plan
$1.7 million for D & F School Performance Bonuses
$1.4 million for an additional annual $500 teacher supplement
$2 million increased Bus Driver and Dual Role pay plan
Implement the final phase of classified employee salary compression (30 steps now). The salary compression ensures employees receive competitive annual salary increases.
$350,000 for increased Principal pay
4% average state pay increases
Approximately $300,000 for additional school supplies
$2.5 million allocated for outdoor facility access

Board Approved 3 Residency District Maps for Public Viewing and Input:
During the November 7, 2023 regular scheduled meeting, the Board approved three (3) maps to be presented to the public for viewing. The public can view the maps by visiting: https://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/page/residencydistricts
