Auxiliary Services and Safety Officer Chase Ferrell has worked for Johnston County Public Schools(JCPS) for numerous years, in various capacities. He has been named JCPS December 2023 Certified Employee of the Month.
Among his duties, his most essential and least recognized responsibility is his priority to keep everyone safe in JCPS. With all of his professional development, training, and communications with various stakeholders, his goal is preparedness and procedures for severe inclement weather, potential threats, and overall best safety practices. Although a daunting task, he is a realist, and an optimist.
Ferrell also understands that "we must always keep the main thing, the main thing", meaning educating and growing the students of JCPS academically, and in a safe and secure environment. He is both communicative and collaborative utilizing the strengths and skills of a variety of stakeholders such as police and sheriff departments, emergency services, businesses, public information systems, school staff and students, and surrounding communities at large.
As a leader, he is grateful, appreciative, and humble. He would not want recognition for his efforts, and he would give all of the accolades to those around him. Johnston County Public Schools is fortunate to have Ferrell and his united team of unsung heroes leading the charge.
