Character Education is a priority for Johnston County Public Schools. Through a variety of means, schools in the district promote character education through rewards, bulletin boards, presentations, and interactive lessons. Each month the Johnston County Board of Education recognizes students who have demonstrated good character. Below are the students recognized for January 2025.


Abbey Robinson

5th Grade - River Dell Elementary

Self Discipline - Doing your best in all situations

Abbey Robinson is a January 2025 Character Education Award recipientAbbey Robinson is the picture of self discipline, although she could be recognized for multiple character traits. She is a member of the River Dell Elementary Battle of the Books Team, and is fondly referred to as the "Ace in the Hole". She finishes reading every single book before anyone else, and is humble about this amazing accomplishment. She strives to be her best for the team, never wanting individual accolades. Robinson also excels in her classwork and is self-motivated, pushing herself to be exceptional in every subject.


Ariana Rubio-De Casas

5th Grade - Thanksgiving Elementary

Respect - Understanding that all people have value as human beings

Ariana-Rubio-De Casas is a January 2025 Character Education Award recipientArianna Rubio-De Casa’s attitude and behavior within the school and the classroom always exudes respect for her teachers and classmates. She treats everyone with a kind spirit and is always willing to help others. Ariana sets a wonderful example of what it means to be a Buffalo and the ROAM expectations: be Respectful, Offer kindness, Act responsibly, and Make a positive difference. Although a quiet student by nature, the example she sets for classmates speaks volumes. We are so thankful for her leadership for the rest of the students at Thanksgiving Elementary.


Jasper Temixqueno-Richards

5th Grade - Micro Elementary

Compassion - Treating others as you would like to be treated

Jasper Temixqueno- Richardsis a January 2025 Character Education Award recipientJasper Temixqueno-Richard is a terrific young man! He consistently demonstrates a love for helping others regardless of any situation presented to him, his peers, or adults. When one of his teachers is absent, he shows compassion by helping the substitutes in any way possible.

He is kind to everybody, always has a smile on his face, and can light up any room with the sweet conversations he starts up. Most impressive is that he will go out of his way and talk to others who may not have someone to talk to.


Benjamin Keith

6th Grade - Archer Lodge Middle

Compassion - Treating others as you would like to be treated

Benjamin Keith is a January 2025 Character Education Award recipientBen Keith is always helpful to students that he already knows, and those he has just met. He is helpful, cares about others, and is truly a friend to everyone. Teachers describe him as outstanding! Also, he demonstrates patience, kindness, and advocates for others.

He is a team leader in class, finding a way to help others once his assignments are finished. While striving to do his best, he always wants to make sure his classmates are having a good day. Ben Keith's compassion, thoughtfulness, and dedication to others is what sets him apart.


Jeremy Bingman

12th Grade - Corinth Holders High

Responsibility - Being accountable for your own actions

Jeremy Bingman is a January 2025 Character Education Award recipientJeremy Bingman serves as the Corinth Holders High Pirate Battalion Commander, where he is in charge of training over 85 cadets. Bingman is a dedicated and driven individual with a thirst for knowledge.

In addition to working hard, he is also a genuine person, rising to any challenge and creating a positive experience for all those around him. He has fostered remarkable interpersonal skills, a strong sense of self-efficacy, determination, and resilience. Jeremy Bingman is an exemplary human being that will succeed in anything he puts his sights toward in the future.

Sawyer Driver

5th Grade - Corinth-Holders Elementary

Dependability - Keeping your promises

Sawyer Driver is a dependable young man who consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of him. Every morning, he arrives early to help gather trash, reset centers, and assist with any and all needs to help the library run smoothly. His commitment and dedication make him an invaluable asset in the library and in Corinth-Holders Elementary.

Whether it's organizing books or helping patrons find what they need, Sawyer Driver's reliability and positive attitude create a welcoming environment, and his contributions are deeply appreciated by everyone he assists.
