✨On Saturday, April 5, 2025, the 16th class of JCPS Hall of Fame honorees was inducted with a special celebration ceremony at Smithfield-Selma High.✨ Four exceptional honorees, consisting of dedicated educators, athletes, and coaches, were recognized. This week, we are sharing the story of each inductee. Today we honor Mr. Nathan Alford, Jr. Mr. Alford dedicated more than 40 years, serving in various roles as an exceptional educator in the Benson community, a passionate basketball and football coach, and athletic director. JCPS is honored to announce that Clayton High NJROTC Cadet Ensign Andrew Miller was awarded the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) Meritorious Achievement Ribbon. In case you missed it... WRAL CBS 17 highlighted the school district's recent "Stop The Bleed" training. Led by the Johnston Community College EMS Department, 50 participants took the course and learned valuable techniques, such as how to apply a tourniquet and care for a wound. Brian Atilano-Sandoval is our final Character Education Award recipient for March!!!🥳🥳 A fifth-grader at Selma Elementary, Atilano-Sandoval is recognized for COURAGE! He demonstrates responsibility, respect, and courage in academic and extracurricular settings, but what truly sets Atilano-Sandoval apart is his remarkable courage. He is not afraid to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult. Whether advocating for a peer, expressing an opinion with integrity, or taking on challenges that push him outside of his comfort zone, Atilano-Sandoval leads by example and faces obstacles with determination and perseverance.
