Channing Adams, a first grader at Wilson's Mills Elementary is a November Character Award recipient for November!
Adams has worked hard, and although faced some challenges, he took the risks and overcame the obstacles. He demonstrates great relationship skills, and is the kind of child who includes others regardless of their capabilities, language skills, and appearance.
With his joyful and charismatic smile, he is always open to new friendships and welcomes anyone into his group.

Today starts American Education Week!
It's a week to honor our team of nearly 5,000 people who serve in our nation’s public schools! We take our hats off to everyone from the bus driver and classroom teacher to the cafeteria worker and administrative staff, plus countless others. JCPS Superintendent Dr. Eric C. Bracy, along with JCPS staff members Kristy Stephenson, David Allen, Roderic Brewington, and Sharon Bryant were welcomed to the Johnston Central Rotary Club meeting yesterday to share highlights and successes of Johnston County Public Schools. The team presented recent academic successes, new innovative programs such as the BioWork Pre-apprenticeship, and plans for continued improvement.
JCSP is extremely thankful for Johnston Central Rotary Club and the many other community partners who help to make our school district the success that it is!
Johnston County Public Schools hosted the 2023 Veterans Day Celebration earlier today. The JCPS JROTC cadet led program was a way of saluting Johnston County Veterans.
Several hundred veterans and their families attended the 19th annual event at Smithfield-Selma High. They were honored with a ceremony filled with all of the pomp and circumstance befitting the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Afterwards, they were treated to a Thanksgiving meal, and laughter filled the room as everyone enjoyed the time to fellowship and reminisce.

A big round of applause for Laurie Kallenbach, our November Classified Employee of the Month!
A receptionist at East Clayton Elementary, Kallenbach is the first person everyone sees when they enter the school, and she always make the best first impression. Kallenbach handles almost everything, and does it with a smile. Kallenbach knows all the students by name, and is invested in building relationships with their families.

West Johnston High Lead Counselor Katie McAnally was named our October Certified Employee of the Month!
McAnally works tirelessly daily for the students and staff of West Johnston High. As the lead counselor, she has taken that leadership role and ran with it. McAnally not only counsels the students, but she also helps the teachers and staff as well. She always smiles, and knows what to say to help with any situation.
CTLA will host its Parent's Night/Open House on Thursday, November 9, 2023, 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The event will be on Johnston Community College's Campus, in Room 1111 of the Wilson Building.
Parents, guardians, and students are encouraged to attend this event to get more information about the different programs CTLA offers. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet the CTLA staff and the JCC directors of the various programs, and ask questions.

Make some noise for Lucia Comastri, a teacher at Clayton Middle! Comastri was named JCPS November Certified Employee of the Month.
Ms. Comastri goes above and beyond to provide services to the Multilingual Learners (ML). She has hit the ground running by welcoming all incoming ML students, and making them feel comfortable amidst a new school year with new peers, teachers, and classrooms. She has a heart that shines through when it comes to serving the school's needs.

JCPS Student Services received a generous donation of 600 bags containing shampoo and soap from the Johnston County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 88. These donations will be used as resources for JCPS students in need.

Smithfield-Selma High was buzzing with excitement during the Topping Out Ceremony for the nearly completed auxiliary gym. 🎇✨
The gym is the final project of the 2018 Bond Referendum, and will include a locker room, weight room, and restrooms for use by students, staff, and the public. Students and staff will also use the additional space for educational purposes, and extracurricular activities.
