Many JCPS staff members stepped away today, and took advantage of the many health perks at the Wellness Fair. Around 35 vendors were at West Johnston High to offer information and services including chiropractic care, local farm to table opportunities, and even a mini Zumba class.

JCPS is actively searching for an Assistant Superintendent of Exceptional Children!
The person will play a critical leadership role which directly affects the acceleration of improved student outcomes for students with special needs in JCPS. This role will direct, monitor and strengthen programs and ensure all services are implemented within federal, state, and local regulations.
The Assistant Superintendent will coordinate the efforts of federal, state and local agencies, private specialists, parents, and department supervisors to provide the services needed by JCPS students, working to eliminate disparities in achievement and ensure college and career readiness for students with special needs.

Samantha Cabrera earned a February 2024 Character Education Award!
She is the president of Meadow School's Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) club, and manages the girls basketball and soccer teams. Cabrera is also an active participant in the Reading Buddies Club, which visits a first grade class each week to read with younger students. She is the epitome of a loyal friend and student.

Lainee Everette received a February 2024 Character Education Award!
Everette was selected for the character trait that best encapsulates her unique combination of talents. As a member of the Four Oaks Middle cheer team, track team, student government, and Beta Club, she consistently gives her all, exceeding expectations in every role.

In observance of President's Day, there is no school on Monday, February 19th, for JCPS students on the traditional calendar.


Kylie Murray is our next February 2024 Character Education Award recipient!
Quick to offer peers and staff a smile, she continues to make an impact on former teachers with smiles, hugs, and words of encouragement. She even asks staff about their family! Murray is flourishing in her role as a member of the school's Safety Patrol, greeting younger students with warmth, even helping them tie their shoes!

Evan Gray is our next February 2024 Character Education Award recipient!
Gray demonstrates compassion towards his peers, teachers, and coaches inside the classroom, and out on the sport fields. A 7th grader at Benson Middle, he is a distinguished leader. He encourages his peers to do well, and offers help when needed.

Abigayle Pelton is our first February 2024 Character Education Award recipient!
Pelton is a positive role model for all students at South Johnston High, and her compassion for others can be seen in and out of the classroom. She is an active leader in several extra curricular activities, a straight A student, and holds down a part-time job.

Katie Pilkington, a beloved, long-time member of the JCPS family, was recognized for her years of service with the Educational Excellence Award! For nearly 28 years, she was the voice of JCPS, the first voice people heard when calling the district. She was small in stature yet big in heart, and she served JCPS with faithfulness, integrity, and class. We are forever thankful for Katie Pilkington's dedication, and the positive impact she had on others!🌟




Congratulations to Beth Langson, the JCPS February 2024 Classified Employee of the Month!
Langston is an instructional assistant who does a little bit of everything to help keep Four Oaks Elementary operating smoothly. She assists with bus operations at the school, and manages the Backpack Buddy Program feeding over 70 kids weekly.

During the February 13, 2024, regular scheduled Board of Education meeting the Board voted to name the soon to come new school Wilson's Mills High. The name is particularly special and connects the past to the future!

Ennis is a MTSS Coach at Benson Elementary who always has the best interest of the students at heart. Her positive attitude has created a great rapport with teachers and students. She goes beyond her position to make sure that all students are receiving the extra help they need.
