Last Friday, our 5th grade students welcomed the State Crime Lab. The scientists walked them through different stages of evidence and some students even got to participate in solving a crime! Thank you State Crime Lab for visiting and educating our students!
Last Thursday we had our spring concert. Congratulations to the vocalists and violinists on a job well done!
Mrs. Matthews' first grade class hosted a Derby Day for families where we competed in games, ate snacks and shared all the things we have learned about the history of the Kentucky Derby.

Last Friday, our school enjoyed a beautiful day for our annual field day. This year was Olympics themed and a lot of fun was had by all! Thanks to Coach Hatch for organizing and thank you to all the teachers, parent volunteers, and donations that made this day possible!

We are so grateful for your participation in the Kids Heart Challenge. Today we were awarded our banner and Top School Certificate. Cleveland Elementary is the #1 school in Johnston County raising $21,599.70 to help heal hearts! Most importantly, we had 394 students register to watch the hands-only CPR video with their families. THANK YOU for helping to create a community of lifesavers!
Congratulations to Mrs. Jane Fako on being our staff member of the month! Mrs. Fako is a fundamental part of our team here at Cleveland, giving our Pre-K students a great foundation to learn and grow into super stars!
Third Grade had the opportunity this year to have Scientist Blair from Science Fun For Everyone visit their classrooms for three amazing science lessons. Students
learned about Force and Motion in February and Landforms in March. This month students learned about the Human Body. Students rotated throughout stations for
hands-on learning. SFFE is a company based in Cary that provides schools with in-house field trips, hosts summer camps, and has a variety of science resources on their website: sciencefun.org. Thank you, Scientist Blair, for the informational and fun science lessons!

JCPS is looking for Reading Buddy volunteers to help our students this summer! We need parents, grandparents, community members, and high school students to join our Summer Reading Camp participants during morning arrival.
Volunteers will listen to and encourage students as they develop their reading skills. No experience is required, but you will need to register and be a volunteer with JCPS before you begin.
