Dear Future Kindergarten Parents,
Staggered entry is a schedule we have implemented to ensure a smooth transition for our youngest learners. It lets us gradually introduce them to the school environment, teachers, and new classmates. This approach helps ease anxiety or apprehension and allows for more individualized attention during their first day at school. It also helps us create academically balanced classes.
Here are the details of our updated staggered entry plan as of 8/15/2023.
Screening and Orientation: At your child's designated screening appointment, we will conduct a brief orientation session for parents and assess your child's current age-appropriate academic knowledge (shapes, colors, counting, etc.). This session will provide an overview of the school routines, expectations, and important information specific to the Kindergarten program. It will also allow you to meet the teachers and ask any questions.
Gradual Transition: During the small group days (either September 5 or 6), your child will have the opportunity to spend time in the classroom, engage in welcome activities, and become familiar with their new surroundings. All students will start attending school on a daily schedule on September 7. More info about these dates is linked below.
