To help newcomers acquire English, we use a teaching model called Picture Word Inductive Model.  Students analyze a picture and name the objects they see.  Then, we use those words to write a sentences to make a paragraph that explains what is happening in the picture.  Multilingual Learners use realia to teach first sounds in words.  Multilingual Learners use visuals to support their vocabulary and sort words by vowel sounds.
