Wednesday, the 18th, was a fun day for Johnston County Community College (JCC) students as the annual Fall Fest and College Fair took place. Students engaged in great activities and games, including ax throwing, volcano climbing, bull riding, and more, while they sought out clubs and colleges that piqued their interest.
The fair was filled with booths to encourage students to try new things and experience new opportunities. One major club that was popular was JUMP, the mentoring program designed to teach students how to be leaders. Other booths included NC State, the PHI THETA KAPPA society, and the Minority Male Success Initiative. All of these booths, along with many more, livened up the Fall Fest.
At the fest, there were many great opportunities for full participation. One example would be a game similar to musical chairs, but with hula hoops! There were also carnival games that offered fun prizes, which piqued both students’ and teachers’ interests. We couldn’t forget about the free food offered by vendors. “The music and food were my favorite part,” a student claimed. “I liked how there were many opportunities for success at this event,” said a teacher. When asking students more questions, some stated that line dancing was one of the best parts of the Fall Fest because it brought back memories from their sixth-grade experiences.
Overall, the Fall Fest was a successful event where everyone had a great time. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy another joyous event of dancing, success-building, and having fun soon. What was your favorite part of the fest? Tell a friend or a teacher.
