November 7th was the first annual Career and Technical Leadership Academy recruitment event. All of our pathways were represented by JCC staff, CTLA staff, and some students. Our school’s pathways include Information Technology, Applied Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Paralegal Technology, Nurse Aide, and our brand-new pathway, Bio-Technology.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore and learn about each pathway. Students could speak directly with current participants and instructors, gaining insights into what each program entails and the skills they can expect to acquire.
One student reflected on the value of such events, stating, “Attending last year’s open house truly helped me in choosing my path. Being able to ask questions and see what the programs entail made a big difference in my decision.”
Parents expressed their positive impressions of the event. One parent expressed, "It's wonderful to see the variety of options available for students. These programs not only support academic growth but also provide them with essential skills for their future endeavors."
The school is excited about introducing the Biotechnology pathway, which will focus on the growing field of genetic research, lab techniques, and bioethics. As the demand for professionals in this area increases, students will gain a competitive advantage by acquiring knowledge in this cutting-edge field.
Finally, the Career and Technical Leadership Academy encourages all students to attend their upcoming informational sessions. The next recruitment night will be on January 16th at Smithfield-Selma High School. These sessions will provide a great opportunity for students to ask questions, explore their options, and start planning for a successful future in their chosen fields. We hope to see you there! For more information, students and parents can visit CTLA’s website or contact the administration office.
