MXES APA Visit Photo

Principal Lyndsey Dunn and McGee’s Crossroads Elementary School faculty and staff hosted Assistant Principal Accelerator program principals and leadership coaches recently, for a school visit and Instructional Walks.

The APA program provides “just-in-time" leadership development and coaching from proven practitioners in the field. Using a concentrated curriculum of leadership development experiences and coaching, the program accelerates the readiness of selected assistant principals to lead and turn around high-needs schools.

Mrs. Dunn was in the first cohort of the APA program, developed and facilitated through NCPAPA, and is now in the third year of her principalship.

"The APA program was such an important part of preparing me to become a principal. I have been extremely fortunate to have wonderful mentors pour into me over the years, such as the ones who visited our school,” stated Dunn. “Being thought of as someone who can pour into other principals stepping into their role is an honor.”

Dunn has led McGee’s Crossroads Elementary to great success during her tenure and was eager to share her experiences with assistant principals who aspire to someday take that next step into principalship. “If nothing else, I hope they took away that being a principal is the hardest, yet most rewarding job they will ever have,” noted Dunn. “It's a gift to make a difference."

A positive difference Dunn and her staff are making indeed!
