Author Chrystal D. Giles, a North Carolina native, will be visiting McGee's Crossroads Middle School on Thursday, May 1st. Giles, a champion for diversity and representation in children's literature, will be meeting with a small group of students. She will discuss her novel, "Not an Easy Win", a story about a young, troubled boy who finds his purpose through playing chess. The story promotes character traits, including fostering relationships, developing empathy, and cultivating self-control and discipline.
Ms. Giles will also be available later in the afternoon, for students and families, from 4:30-5:30 PM. Families will be able to obtain signed copies of her book, take photos, and participate in a Q & A session.
