Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal, Mrs. White. We are excited to offer the Holiday Shop next week for our students. Each teacher signed up for a day and time for their class to shop. As a reminder, students can shop with cash or check made out to RES PTA at the shop, but we cannot process credit cards at the school. If you would like to pay by credit card, please follow the instructions on the sale flyer that went home with students last week and send the voucher with the authorization code with your child to shop. Also, as a reminder for carpool, it is very important that all cars have the car tag each day. When cars do not have a car tag, it makes the carpool process last much longer and more difficult for our staff. Thank you for your help with this. Also, please refrain from dropping students off before the 8:25 am bell. We want all students to be safe at all times and doing this poses a safety issue as students are not supervised until the 8:25 am bell. We also ask that parents do not use the back entrance during carpool times unless you are parking and coming into the building. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
Superintendent Dr. Bracy, Area Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Patty Whittington, and Chief Academic Officer Anna Kuykendal were escorted by Principal Leigh White to visit a few classes at Riverwood Elementary this morning to engage with students and teachers. They were able to assist students with their work, brainstorm staff, and discuss educational goals and strategies with school leadership.
The visits are an ongoing effort by the district to focus on being actively involved in the classrooms and providing the support needed to help JCPS students achieve their best!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. Tomorrow is Spirit Day. Please have students wear RES Spirit Wear or a green shirt tomorrow so that their class can win the sought after Spirit Ram for December.
The Holiday Shop will be held from December 11th - 15th this year. Information went home yesterday and we are in need of volunteers to make this a successful experience for our students. Please review the Holiday Shop Volunteer Sign-Up Genius to find a spot to volunteer. The signup is available on the PTA's linktree website or you can email respta2018@gmail.com for access. Our students are so excited to be able to shop for family members each year and we cannot run it successfully without enough parent volunteers.
Also, we will begin our 12 Days of Winter celebration next Tuesday, December 5th leading up to Christmas break. Your child will be bringing the flyer home. We are looking forward to enjoying some dress up days in the next couple of weeks to celebrate winter arriving.
Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
The annual Riverwood Elementary School Macy’s Parade is always a fun way for students, staff, and community members to kick off the holiday season. This year’s theme was “Bee Kind”, an area of focus for the school.
Kindergarten students, Queen Bee White (Principal Leigh White), The Grinch, and, Santa and Mrs. Claus, were just a few of the special people at the parade. The Clayton fire and police departments, along with Clayton High cheerleaders and dancers brought their energy to the event.
There was dancing, waving, smiling, and singing as everyone celebrated the festive holiday season that has officially arrived!
Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🥧🥧

We still have an excessive amount of clothing and items at school in our Lost and Found. Please stop by and pick up any items that your student has misplaced. We are hoping this will be a convenient time and location outside of our normal school hours. The Harvest Hootenanny is still on for tomorrow night, but due to unfavorable weather there will be some changes to activities. We will be moving activities inside and moving some things around. Unfortunately, the expected rain has caused us to cancel the dunk tank and some of our inflatables. We will still have a lot of fun, food and festivities so come out on Friday from 4:45 - 8. Although admission is free to enter, there will be some activities that will cost money. We are looking forward to a fun night with our RES students and families. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. The RES PTA is looking forward to hosting our Harvest Hootenany this Friday evening from 4:45-8 pm. We ask that everyone enter the front of the building and make their way to the Enhancements/Cafeteria wing for the fun & festivities. There is no charge to attend the event and most activities are free of charge. We would like to suggest attendees bring a donation for our Backpack Buddies program to help support our students in need.
We would like to express our utmost appreciation to our sponsors, Towne Mortgage of the Carolinas, Noah Family Dentistry, Partners TaeKwonDo, Kids First Pediatrics, Pace Family Farms, Dance Ascension and SOS Music Entertainment
who have helped us provide this event at no cost to attendees.
Free activities include: inflatables, weather permitting, touch a truck, bingo, a cake walk, music, dancing, craft activities, a fortune telling booth and the ever popular dunk-a-teacher. Ms. Hogg, Mrs. Hallinger, Mr. Procaccini, and Mr. Roberson have graciously volunteered to work our dunking booth so everyone should work on their aim.
We will have food trucks, various vendors, water bottle stickers and ram jibbitz for sale and back by popular demand Build a Ram. These items will require payment. A portion of the proceeds will help support our PTA.
For this year's Build a Ram, we have both an 8" ram for $15 and a 16" ram for $20. If you missed out last year or want to add to your Riverwood flock, you can pre-order your ram. We will also have some available at the event while supplies last.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday for food, fun & all the festivities!
Please continue to monitor our RES PTA Facebook page for any last minute changes or announcements.
Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. Tomorrow the green flag drops on our Mario Coin Challenge Race. Each grade will have a green pipe for their donations. We are asking students to bring in pennies and bills to add positive points to your pipes; silver coins and checks made payable to RES PTA will deduct points when placed in other grade levels pipes.
Donations will be tallied each day and results will be announced each afternoon on the afternoon announcements.
When the checkered flag drops on Friday, the grade with the highest number of points will be announced. The winning grade will earn a pizza party and our RES Enhancements will get to purchase items from their wish lists to enhance their programs for all of our students to enjoy. You know I'm very competitive and I love a good challenge! I can't wait to see which grade level is going to win this challenge.
Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
Super proud of our students who were recognized for the September Character trait Respect and Mrs Laura Epting our staff winner
Check out our new amazing sign thanks to PTA and our amazing Parents and families who helped us fundraise to make it happen
