JCPS continues to improve its school performance grades! 🌟 We are proud to announce that 89% of our schools received a school letter grade of A, B, or C according to recent data, surpassing the state average of 66%. This is a tremendous increase since 2018, when 65% of our schools were identified as the same. Through dedication and hard work, three schools moved from a letter grade of C to B, and four schools moved from D to C! 👏 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

JCPS communities came together in an extraordinary way for our neighbors in Western North Carolina! 🌟 Donations from our schools for the Hurricane Helene Relief filled three dump trailers, three 3 box trucks, two pickup trucks, and two vans! This outpouring of kindness, compassion, and generosity is what our school system is built upon. We thank everyone involved in this effort! We continue to keep everyone affected by this devastating event in our hearts! ❤

Thousands of supplies. Hundreds of donors. One common goal…helping those in their time of need. ❤ Today our Facility Services team gathered supplies from our schools, which were Hurricane Helene Relief donation sites. In a few hours, these supplies will be transported to Western North Carolina. Thank you to the many, many students, parents, and staff who have responded promptly and compassionately. Also, a special thanks to Johnston County Government and the Johnston County Sheriff's Office for allowing us to partner with you in this effort. 🤝

As we provide critical assistance to our neighbors in Western North Carolina, here's a reminder of our district's partnership with Johnston County Government's Hurricane Helene Relief Effort. Likewise, 85% of the schools in the district met or exceeded growth, a 56% increase from 2018! JCPS is truly moving forward! 🌟 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Did you know... JCPS is 1 of 12 districts to exceed pre-pandemic achievement? Not only that, six of our amazing schools exited low performing status. All student subgroups are above pre-pandemic achievement, and JCPS is closing the achievement gaps. #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

The next data highlight from the 2023-2024 school year data report is phenomenal! Twenty-three of our schools earned their way into the top 20% of the state for growth. This accomplishment is just one example of students, teachers, and parents working together to propel our district up! #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Voters will have the opportunity on November 5, 2024, to vote for a bond that could provide $120 million to JCPS and continue to improve the quality of education we offer our community. It is imperative that all of our leadership and school stakeholders understand the projects that will be funded by this referendum. Johnston County Public Schools is in the process of selecting a calendar for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. 📅 During the September 10, regular scheduled meeting the JC Board of Education received three (3) calendar options for each school year, and has requested that each of the calendar options be made available for your review and feedback. Hello, Riverwood Ravens! Here is this week’s edition of News from the Nest. Students had a great time at our first Fun Friday this past week! Additional Fun Friday activities will be taking place every 2-3 weeks and will include grade level clubs and the Treat Trolley. This week, we have our first Early Release day of the year on Friday where students are released at 1:05pm. No students will be allowed to remain on campus after dismissal as staff members have county meetings in other locations. Also this week, progress reports will go home on Thursday with your students.
