The Smithfield Middle School Art Department is proud to participate in the National Parks Youth Arts Project. Students in Visual Arts classes from both semesters had the opportunity to work on 11 collaborative art canvases sent on to be displayed at three National Parks: Hopewell Culture National Historical Park in Ohio , Fort Pulaski National Monument in Georgia, and Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas.  Smithfield Middle has participated in the project since 2017. If you would like to see more pictures of the youth art on display at the National Parks including past projects from Smithfield Middle, you can visit the gallery at the International Fiber Collaborative Flickr site.
