MATHCOUNTS is a non-profit organization that offers math programs for US middle school students in grades 6–8. The competition series has four levels: school, chapter, state, and national. The goal of MATHCOUNTS is to help students build confidence and improve their attitudes toward math and problem solving.
Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) held a MATHCOUNTS district competition in December 2024 at Johnston Community College. The following students represented Smithfield Middle School at this years competition, coached by Michelle Faucett, Year Two Science Teacher.
