Johnston County Public Schools will hold our annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 10, and we are beyond excited to announce that this year's ceremony will be in-person! We are looking forward to serving all of our Johnston County Veterans lunch immediately following the ceremony. Our next Character Education Award recipient for October is Harrison "Reid" Roberts! An eighth grader at McGee's Crossroads Middle, Reid Roberts stands out from the crowd as a respectful and responsible young man. He is a leader who works hard daily to give his best at all times. Not only is Reid responsible to himself, his peers, teachers, and school, he is also very kind, displays good manners, and is trustworthy. He is a great student and an even better person. Way to go Reid Roberts!!!😎

Next up for National Principals Month, we're celebrating William Weaver, principal at South Johnston High! Mr. Weaver’s ability to stay in tune with the needs of his staff and students alike, has endeared him to the South Johnston community. Our final #NationalPrincipalsMonth celebration for today goes to Mr. Stephen Baker, principal at Selma Middle School! Anyone who has ever worked with Mr. Baker will tell you he only wants the best for his students and staff. He is a wonderful asset to our leadership team, and we are truly thankful to call him one of ours! Keep the Selma train rolling Mr. Baker!🚄

Veda Swan, a fifth grade student at McGee's Crossroads Elementary, received a Character Education Award for the trait of Respect! Swan continuously demonstrates a level of maturity in the school setting, and she models positive behavior for her peers. When she does not agree with the opinions of others, she is able to express that in a respectful manner. Swan is welcoming to all of her classmates, and treats everyone as equals. Fire Prevention Week runs from October 8 - 14. 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒 This week is dedicated to teaching children and adults how to stay safe in the event of a fire. Make an escape plan with your family and practice that plan so you are ready in the event of a fire.

Rounding out the first week of #NationalPrincipals Month, we have Melissa Hurst from Princeton Elementary! Ms. Hurst is a proud Bulldog, and loves her Princeton Community. And they love her back.
