Good morning 5th grade students and teachers!
Please make sure you wear something WARM this morning for the Veterans procession immediately following announcements.
Can't wait to see you there!
This week, our students are having many conversations about Veterans, and we would like to continue those conversations with a display of the Veterans that are closest to our hearts.
If you would like to add your Veteran or active service member to our CHES recognition board, please send a picture with a name, branch of service, and relation to CHES student to ashleymorton@johnston.k12.nc.us

Good afternoon!
Corinth-Holders Elementary is on a roll this November!
This month's topics are EMOTIONS AND EMPATHY. Over the course of the month, we have many conversations about PERSPECTIVE, especially as we discuss Veterans Day and Native American Heritage Month.
Attached to this message, you will find a few resources to help continue the conversation about FEELINGS at home, as well as a few community resources. Please help your child remember the importance of recognizing emotions in themselves and in others as we continue to have positive interactions across our Corinth-Holders community.
Have a great rest of your week, Ms. Morton, School Counselor

The food pantry has arrived! Please sign in on the clipboard so we can continue to receive this service :) Have a great weekend!

5th graders in Ms. Bullock's class collaborate to write effective summaries. And then have to to hit the easy button, of course!

November 13th is Picture Retake/Makeup Day!

Thank you to Ms. Stevens for being recognized as our October Teacher of the Month. Ms. Stevens has a unique talent for building relationships with students and encouraging all students to do their best. Congratulations and thank you!

Congratulations to Ms. Cuella for being recognized as our Staff of the Month. Ms. Cuella fosters a love for science and our students love going to see her in our Discovery Cove each week. Thank you, Ms. Cuella!

There's nothing better than seeing science in action. 5th graders today learned all about the water cycle!

Thank you PTO for replacing our soccer nets. We certainly enjoyed them at recess today!

Good morning Pirate families! Here is your visual reminder of this week's dress up days for Red Ribbon Week in case you missed the weekly call/email last night. Let's make it a great week, Pirates!

How do you practice relative and absolute locations? If you are in Mr. Evan's second grade class, you make a map of your classroom and describe where everything is at. Real life practice!

JCPS wrapped up the 2023-2024 school year ranked 35th in the state overall! 💪
Now we are future-focused on our 2029 goal of being in the top 20% in the state. With the best teachers, students, and parents giving their all, we will get there! 📚🏫🎓

Today's pirate lunch was a blast. Thank you to our amazing nutrition staff for making this possible. We hope that everyone had a great time, enjoyed some good food, and even walked the plank. Today was a great day to be a Pirate!

We continue to grow and improve each & every day! 🌟
JCPS English learners showed more improvement than the state average in back-to-back years! 👏

One last reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, for JCPS students on the traditional calendar. 📅

We are having so much fun at Corinth-Holders Elementary this October, and we can't believe it is already halfway over!
I just wanted to check in with parents on the topic of the month: RESPECT. This character trait is a major focus in October as we continue to adjust to the classroom dynamics of the new school year.
Attached to this message, you will find a few resources to help continue the conversation about RESPECT at home, as well as a few community resources.
Please help your child remember that RESPECT for self, others, and property is a part of our daily Pirate Pledge so that we can most enthusiastically hone in on how to be a buddy, not a bully!
Have a great rest of your week,
Ms. Morton, School Counselor
