Eighth grade students who have returned their letter will receive their requested tickets for the event on Tuesday, June 4th. All Awards Ceremonies will be held in the gym. Parents and guests should plan to park in the back of the building in the bus parking lot. Please do not plan to arrive before 8:05 AM each day due to the arrival of bus riders. Please note that Thursday, June 6th is an early dismissal day for students, and school will end at 1:05 PM. As a reminder, students received their End of Grade Score Report last Thursday or Friday. Please be sure to ask your child for his or her report. All students will also receive their final report card on the last day of school, which will include other important information. Students should return all library books, textbooks, and school borrowed items to school as soon as possible. Please be reminded that students who were not proficient on their EOG tests have an opportunity to return to school on Friday, June 7th for remediation. Any student who was not proficient in an area is invited to retest to improve their score and scholastic record. Please note that breakfast and lunch will be provided during remediation and retesting. Normal bus routes and pick up times will also be used for remediation and retesting. Students will dismiss at 1:05 on the remediation and retesting days. Also, yearbooks will be distributed tomorrow, Monday, June 3rd, to any student who has previously purchased a yearbook. We do have a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase at $20.00 each. If a student would like to purchase a yearbook, he or she should bring the money this week and see Mrs. Bridget Brown in the front lobby during homeroom or in her classroom on the front hallway. We look forward to seeing you at our Awards Day ceremonies this week. As always, thanks for your continued support of North Johnston Middle School. Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role. Johnston County Publics Schools conducted a mock reunification exercise today at North Johnston Middle. The event was part of an ongoing effort to improve the district's emergency plan. During the event students from Micro Elementary were taken to North Johnston Middle in a mock evacuation, and then their parents went through the reunification process to be reunited with their students. The event was a great success. JCPS thanks our local law enforcement, emergency management, and school government officials for their continued support of our students, families, and schools!

Good evening! I hope that each one of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday break. I wanted to reach out with an important announcement for our Jaguar community. Our school district has recently studied vetted reunification plans and realized the importance of preparing appropriately for the real possibility of having to relocate students and reunify them with parents in the event of an emergency. There are a variety of emergency situations that may require the activation of family reunification plans such as fire, hazardous materials release, or an active shooter incident. Under any circumstance, the process may prove challenging and emotions may run high. Because of this, the need for developing a plan and providing a coordinated response prior to an emergency is essential. Please know that North Johnston Middle has been selected to participate in a practice reunification training with Micro Elementary on Friday, December 1st. The students and staff at Micro Elementary will relocate to the middle school via buses at approximately 9:30 am on Friday, December 1st. The elementary students and staff will be safely located in the gym while other stakeholders work through the main components of the reunification process, including parent/guardian check out for approximately fifty elementary students. Again, this is simply a training exercise. Because of this planned training exercise, there will be a large presence of law enforcement and emergency management personnel on the North Johnston Middle campus from approximately 8:30 am through 11:30 am on Friday, December 1st. Our middle school students will participate in their regular school activities during this time. We look forward to participating in this training exercise as a proactive measure for preparing for an emergency situation. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns. Have a good evening. Heather Anders, Principal
