Good evening, North Johnston Middle Parents, Students, & Staff,
Please review the following important reminders and information for our Jaguar families.
Any parent or guardian who participated in the PTA Specialty Apple Fundraiser is reminded that apples will be available for pick up tomorrow, Wednesday, November 15th, from 3:15-6:15 PM using the front carpool entrance. A parent/guardian will need to verify that the apple order is correct and will need to sign when picking up the apples. In addition, the PTA will also sell Pura Vida bracelets in school colors for $10.00 each from 3:15-6:15 PM tomorrow night in the media center. The bracelets will make a great gift for students or family members.
As a reminder, a school dance will be held this Friday, November 17th from 3:15-5:15 in the school gym for eligible North Johnston Middle sixth through eighth grade students only. Admission to the dance will be $5.00. Drinks and candy will be available for students to purchase in the concession stand. Drinks and candy items will be sold for $2.00 each. Students should plan to stay after school if they choose to attend the dance; however, rides should be arranged in advance. Students will be picked up in the back of the building at the end of the dance. Students will wait inside the building at the end of the dance, and their names will be called for them to report to the vehicles. Please be prepared to possibly wait as we ensure that our students are dismissed in a safe and orderly manner.

JCPS CLOSED FOR ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF THURSDAY, AUGUST 31
Due to the impending inclement weather conditions caused by Hurricane Idalia, Johnston County Public Schools will be closed for all students, staff, and visitors tomorrow, Thursday, August 31. This includes all after school activities on Thursday. The district will operate under Condition 1 of our Inclement Weather Procedures. Weather Conditions can be found online by visiting www.johnston.k12.nc.us/weatherconditions.
This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution and per the guidance of local and state emergency service officials.
We hope that all of our students, staff, and families stay safe, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this severe weather event.
We had a wonderful first day back to school and want to thank all of our students, staff, and families for working together to make today a success. We want to share a few reminders to keep things running smoothly in the days and weeks ahead.
In the first few weeks of school, it’s typical for our bus routes and carpool lanes to run a bit slower than normal. Our drivers are getting used to new routes, there are more drivers on the road, our students are getting into a routine, and most importantly - we are focused on keeping everyone safe at all times. We ask that you keep these things in mind if our arrival and departure procedures are moving more slowly than we anticipate. If your student is a bus rider, we encourage you to download the EduLog Parent Portal App, for real time information on where your student's bus is on their route.
We also want to remind our families that the majority of our schools are offering free breakfast and lunch this school year. All schools, with the exception of Clayton High, Cleveland Elementary, Cleveland High, Corinth Holders High, and Powhatan Elementary, will offer free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision. Families with students attending non-qualifying schools are encouraged to complete a Free and Reduced meal application to receive benefits for this school year. This form, which can be found on the district website, assists our schools in many other services throughout the year, and can be beneficial for our families and students.
Lastly, please be reminded that all of our school campuses now have a weapons detection system in place at the entrances of our school. All students, staff, and guests will be expected to pass through the system upon arrival to our campuses.
This first week of school is a busy time, with a lot of excitement for our students. Please be reminded that attendance will be taken daily. However attendance calls for students who are marked tardy or absent will not resume until next week.
We thank you in advance for your help in making this a great school year.
Greetings, North Johnston Middle Students, Parents, Staff, & Community!
This is Principal Heather Anders with a few reminders as we begin the 2023-2024 school year.
Tomorrow, Monday, August 28th, is the first day of school for students. Students may arrive at school beginning at 7:35 AM, and dismissal is at 3:05 PM. If a student was not able to receive his or her schedule at orientation last week, homeroom rosters will be posted throughout the building, and staff will assist students in the morning to locate their homeroom class. Staff members will also be available throughout the day to assist students with reporting to their correct classrooms. In some instances, there have been updates made to schedules. Students should be able to view their schedule in Powerschool, and all students will receive a new printed copy of their schedule during their homeroom class tomorrow.
As a reminder, breakfast and lunch is free for all North Johnston Middle students this year. We are encouraging all of our students to eat both meals daily at school.
Bus information was provided during orientation to all students who are scheduled to ride a bus. During the first week of school, bus riders are encouraged to arrive at their designated morning bus stop at least 10 to 15 minutes before the estimated time of arrival. Families are encouraged to use the Where’s My Bus app for real-time information on their bus.
As a reminder, all of our students, staff, and visitors who enter the building will walk through our Weapon Detection Systems that are located at both our bus entrance and carpool entrance. Students are reminded that they may be asked to remove items such as large three-ring binders, eyeglass cases, and umbrellas during the brief screening process, if necessary. We will work with students to ensure they understand the system expectations as we continue to make safety our top priority.
As always, please visit our school website or contact the front office if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing all of our students tomorrow for another successful year! Let’s Go Jaguars!
