We are terribly sorry for the oversight, but want to make sure we recognize all of our amazing students who earned the award for Integrity during the month of March. We are so proud of each of them and apologize for for not posting this sooner.

Super proud of our students and Mrs Skillern recognized for their display of Courage for the character trait during the Month of April.

A huge shout out to Mr Roberson, the Enhancement team and all the parent and students who volunteered to help make our two big field day events a hit

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. We are so proud of all of our students and how much they have learned this year! Our Kindergarten-2nd grade students have shown so much growth and progress on their end of year assessments and our 3rd-5th graders worked so hard on their EOGs and as our results are coming in, they are showing so much growth and progress. EOG Score Reports with Reading and Math scores will go home on the last day of school in report cards with each student. 5th Grade Science scores are delayed until the Fall due to the state re-norming the test. Also, we plan to move forward with Field Day for K-2nd grade tomorrow, May 15th. We are going to make a few adjustments to the stations as there are many wet areas outside. The adjustments will avoid the areas that are too muddy. Therefore, parents need to send a change of clothes and a change of shoes in a bag and expect for the clothes and shoes to come home wet. 3rd-5th grade Field Day is Friday, May 16th and we expect there to still be wet areas so please send in extra clothes and shoes in a bag on Friday as well. Please know that only parents who have signed up to volunteer can attend Field Days. The office will have a list of volunteers who have signed up so please report to the front office if you signed up to volunteer for Field Day. Send a refillable water bottle as it's looking like its going to be hot both days! We are looking forward to our end of the year awards next week on May 19, 20, and 21. See letters that have gone home and teacher emails for specific days/times. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
Good afternoon Riverwood Elementary School families. This is Mrs. White, your principal. I am calling to inform you of a change in dismissal this afternoon due to the potential of severe weather at the time of our dismissal and the time our students usually walk home. All of our students who are usually walkers will become car riders today. If you have a walking student, please go through our normal car rider line and pick your child up in car pool. We appreciate your understanding and your patience as we move the car line as quickly and safely as possible this afternoon. If you do not have a car rider tag, please create one with dark ink and put it in the driver side window. Please know that we understand if you are unable to get to the school at dismissal time during car riders. We will keep your child safe in the school until you can arrive. Thank you for your support with this difficult decision and understanding that our number one priority is to always keep our students and staff safe.
We are so proud of you and so grateful for Nurse Jennifer Crocker who was named JCPS Nurse of the Year. She is as humble as they get but truly a life saver to us all!!

Today is National School Nurse Day and JCPS is excited to celebrate those who are committed to the well-being of our students each day!
Please help us celebrate and champion these dedicated healthcare leaders today and every day of the year!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with some updates. Our 3rd-5th graders will begin their End of Grade Testing this Friday, May 9th. Friday, May 9th is the Reading EOG, Monday, May 12th is the Math EOG, and Tuesday, May 13th is the 5th grade Science EOG. Parents please be sure that your children are well rested and eat a good breakfast each day. As a reminder, breakfast is free at school for all students. Our students have worked so hard this year and I am super excited to see how much growth they have made. We will have an EOG Dance Celebration after all EOGs for all students who gave their best effort, used their strategies, and showed their work...which should be all students! Also, Field Day for K-2nd grade is Thursday, May 15th and 3rd-5th grade Field Day is Friday, May 16th. We need parent volunteers for Field Day. The links to sign up for volunteer shifts and supplies are on the RES PTA Facebook page. Parents must sign up to volunteer in order to come for Field Day as this is an event just for our students. The office will have a list of volunteers who have signed up so please report to the front office if you sign up to volunteer for Field Day. Deadline for supplies/snacks is May 9th and thank you to everyone who has already brought items in. It is hard to believe, but our end of the year awards are scheduled for May 19, 20, and 21. See letters that have gone home and teacher emails for specific days/times. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.

Don’t forget this week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Our PTA and community have already spoiled us and we are so grateful.

Super proud that 4 of Riverwood’s teachers passed National Board Certification. Ms Cheong, Ms Hayward, Ms Thieme and Ms Smith (absent for picture but deserved this recognition). 🥰They were recognized at the Spring Recognition Ceremony Monday night.

Our winning Battle of the Books team was recognized Monday night at the Spring Recognition Ceremony. #1 in the district two years in a row. Huge thanks to Ms West and Ms McGuire who coach our students to great achievement!

So proud and thankful we have Ms Ally Veilleux nominated as Riverwood Elementary’s First Year teacher of the year. Her dedication to her students is a true gift to our school.

Summer is nearly here and May holds a lot of important events! 🎓📚

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. Thank you so much parents for sending in gently used books last week for our Book Drive. We are currently sorting through the books and PTA has also purchased each student 2 brand new books to take home for the summer! Prior to the end of the school year, our students will "book shop" and take home several books for the summer. Our Spring Book Fair is in full effect this week and we are excited for the Spring Book Fair Family Night and Arts Night this Thursday, May 1st. Book Fair Family Night and the Art Exhibits will be open from 4 pm-7 pm. The Chorus performance is scheduled for 6 pm. We are also so excited that One Compassion will be cooking on site and serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and sweet treats for all families and attendees for free! It will be a very busy evening and we ask that you do not park in the fire lanes in the front or the back entrances due to safety reasons. This Friday, May 2nd is Spirit Day. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we can't wait to celebrate our teachers and Staff here at RES! More information should be coming home this week. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening!
Dear Riverwood Families,
Riverwood Families & Parents, we need your help at our Spring Scholastic Book Fair!
As we embrace the vibrant energy (and pollen) of Spring, we understand it can be a bustling season for everyone. However, we invite you to take a refreshing pause and join us in fostering a lifelong love of reading among our students at the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair.
Your involvement, whether for a full shift or a brief visit, is invaluable and what makes the fair a success! Unfortunately, without enough volunteers, we may need to reduce the shopping hours available to our students and families. Your participation will ensure our young readers have ample opportunity to explore and discover new books!
We are eagerly anticipating the Book Fair next week and sincerely hope to see you there! To sign up and explore the different ways you can contribute, please follow the link below and select 'Spring Book Fair.' Opportunities are available from setup to preview days starting this week.
