Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. We are excited that our Fall Book Fair will be at our school from next Monday, September 16-Friday, September 20. Our Fall Open House and Book Fair Family Night is scheduled for next Thursday, September 19th. We will have floating Open House in classrooms from 4:30-5:30 pm and Book Fair Family Night is from 4-7 pm. We will also have several food trucks on site. Flyers went home with students today. We are also in need of parent volunteers for the Book Fair next week. Please go to our RES Facebook page and sign up to volunteer next week if you are able to do so! We are excited that our carpool sidewalk has been extended in the front of the school. The morning carpool drop off will be the same except this will allow more students to unload onto the extended sidewalk. For afternoon carpool, effective as of Monday, we will shift to students walking down the sidewalk to get into cars instead of down the yellow line to get to their cars. This will be a big change for our staff and students especially in the afternoons. I thank you in advance for your patience and for following the carpool staff's lead before moving your car in the morning and afternoons. Parents, we need your help! We know that Fall is an incredibly busy time for our Riverwood families. However, without enough volunteers for our Scholastic Book Fair, we may need to reduce the hours available for students and families to shop.

Good evening again Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. Thank you to all the parents for your patience this afternoon as we dismissed students to get home safely. It has been a wonderful first week of school! Thank you for sending us such awesome children each day. As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day Holiday. Next Friday, September 6th is our first RES Spirit Day of the year. For Spirit Days, we love to see which class has the most spirit by wearing RES shirts or anything green to represent our school colors. The class in each grade level with the most spirit gets to keep the RAM for the month! As a reminder for carpool, we ask that parents keep your car tags in the windshield until you leave the school and that parents remain in your car. If your student doesn't come out with the rest of the students in that group, you'll pull to the middle parking lot near the flag pole and we'll get your child outside as quickly as possible. Our younger students have done a great job this week with carpool. We ask that you help them become independent by getting in and out of the car by themselves when ya'll are in other places. This will help them here in carpool. Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend!
Good afternoon Riverwood Elementary School families. This is Mrs. White, your principal. I am calling to inform you of a change in dismissal this afternoon due to the current weather conditions and potential of severe weather at the time of our dismissal and the time our students usually walk home. Our students who are usually walkers will become car riders today. If you have a walking student, please go through our normal car rider line and pick your child up in car pool. If you need to call the front office to give us information, please call 919-359-6300 . Thank you for your patience if you call as we will answer calls as quickly as we can. We appreciate your understanding and your patience as we move the car line as quickly and safely as possible this afternoon. Please know that we understand if you are unable to get to the school at dismissal time during car riders. We will keep your child safe in the school as long as we need to until you can arrive. Thank you for your support with this difficult decision and understanding that our number one priority is to always keep our students and staff safe.

Good evening Riverwood Elementary families! This is your principal Mrs. White. We are very excited to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. Back to School Orientation is scheduled for this Thursday, August 22nd. We are offering 2 different time slots for Orientation, either 4-5 pm or 5:30-6:30 pm. Please know that the time slots are not floating so plan to be in the classroom at the beginning of the time slot for the hour. Next Monday, August 26th is the first day of school for 1st-5th graders. We will have a short staggered entry for our Kindergarten students. Half of our Kindergarteners will attend on Wednesday, August 28th, the other half on Thursday, August 29th, and then all Kindergarten students will attend Friday, August 30th. Our bell schedule remains the same this year with students entering the building at 8:25 am, tardy bell is 8:55 am, and we will dismiss at 3:50 pm. As always, I am grateful for your continued support of RES and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Orientation this Thursday!

This is Mrs. Pawlak, your Assistant Principal.
Tonight's message is specifically for our new Kindergarten families. Johnston County Public Schools is closing all campuses and offices on Thursday, August 8th due to inclement weather. As a result, we will need to postpone our Kindergarten Assessments that were originally scheduled. We plan to reschedule these assessments for Monday, August 12th. You will receive a new sign-up option by tomorrow morning. Please feel free to contact the school tomorrow between 7am and 1pm if you have any questions or concerns. Although it is extremely helpful to have students assessed in advance, all students will be placed in a class if for some reason you are not able to attend the new date and time.
