Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders for the week ahead.
As we approach the holiday break, we have lots going on at River Dell.
Our "12 Days of Christmas" continues this week. Monday is Gingerbread Day, Tuesday is Snowman Day, Wednesday is Dress Like an Elf Day, Thursday is Christmas Carol Day, and Friday is Santa Day.
On Wednesday, PTA will be selling Spirit Sticks and stickers before school. On Friday, we will have "Caps and PJ Bottoms for a Cause". Students can wear a hat and/or PJ Bottoms for $1.00, and all proceeds go to a Racer family in need.
This week also begins our RDE Holiday Shop. This is a favorite for all of our students. Students can purchase gifts for family and friends in the Holiday Shop. Your teachers will let you know which day your child's class will be attending. We are still in need of volunteers to help work each day in the Holiday Shop. Please utilize the link on our PTA Facebook Page to sign up to help out. Any time, no matter how little, is appreciated. It is a magical experience seeing the excitement in the students' faces as they purchase surprise gifts.
This Saturday is our Racer Holiday Festival! It is from 11:00-2:00. There will be a holiday train, The Grinch and Santa will be there for pictures, there will be lots of vendors, and food trucks, and families can accompany students to visit the Holiday Gift Shop as well. Don't miss this event!
Thank you so much for being proactive in ensuring that students arrive on time daily. A reminder that the tardy bell rings at 8:55, and students should be in their classes no later than 8:55 daily. If you arrive after 8:55, please walk your students into the office to check them in.

We are getting closer and closer to the winter holiday break. The weather is getting colder, so please ensure that your students are coming to school with coats each day.
Teachers are working hard each day to provide creative and valuable lessons, and we want to make sure that all students are arriving to their classrooms on time every morning. The tardy bell rings daily at 8:55. Students should be arriving before 8:55 each day so they can be in class at or before 8:55. Thank you for helping us with this.
Tomorrow begins our "RDE 12 Days of Christmas". Tomorrow is "Christmas Tree Day". Students and staff are encouraged to dress in their festive Christmas tree attire or just wear green. Friday is "Reindeer Day". We can't wait to see everyone celebrating and dressing up for these fun days together. The full calendar of events can be found on the River Dell PTA Facebook page.

We are excited to see everyone tomorrow. A reminder that the tardy bell rings at 8:55, and if students arrive after that time, a parent should accompany them into the office to check in.
On Thursday our Holiday activity calendar begins. Thursday is dress like a Christmas Tree Day, and Friday is Reindeer Day.

Tomorrow is a regular school day, and then Wednesday, November 27th begins the Thanksgiving holiday break. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable time with family and friends. School will resume on Monday, December 2nd for all JCPS students and staff. Have a wonderful evening and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer.
Attention Racer families: Spirit Sticks will be on sale tomorrow morning (Wednesday) before school. They are $1.00 a piece. LOTS of brand new designs will be available!

On Thursday this week we will be having a PTA meeting in our Media Center at 6:00. We encourage all RDE parents to attend. Childcare will be provided for school age students.

Tonight is Spirit Night at La Cucina Italiana in the Harris Teeter shopping center. It is from 4:00-8:00. A portion of all proceeds will come right back to River Dell. Take the night off from cooking, and come out and enjoy some pizza, pasta, salads, or subs and sandwiches.
Tomorrow is picture make-up day. Any student that ordered pictures and wants a retake may do so if they return their original package. All students that didn't have their picture taken the first time need to do it tomorrow.
There is no school on Monday, November 11th for Veterans Day.

Hello Racer Families!
Tonight is Family Night at the Book Fair. It will be open until 7:00pm.
Tomorrow is "Crazy Socks and Crazy Hair" day for Red Ribbon Week.
Thursday is "Dress as your favorite book character" day.
Report cards came home today. Make sure to check your child's backpack. Sign and return the report card envelope tomorrow.
Also, a reminder that there is no school for students next Tuesday as we are a voting site.

There are some bus changes for today. Students that ride bus 770 will ride home with students on the bus 769. Students that ride bus 609 will come home on bus 770. No delays are expected.
It's a brand new day and we're still celebrating our principals! Ms. Jenny Durko, principal at River Dell Elementary is our next honoree for #NationalPrincipalsMonth!🏇
Ms. Durko is a proud River Dell Racer, and has great enthusiasm and expectations for the school. She is passionate about creating the very best environment for students to learn. River Dell Elementary students are treated as unique individuals and are encouraged to do their best in everything they do.

Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements and reminders. This week continues our Book Fair as well as Grandparents' Week. Please check the schedule that is posted on our RDE website.
This week is also Red Ribbon Week. All homeroom teachers should have sent out a schedule for daily events. Tomorrow all staff and students are encouraged to wear RDE Spirit Wear.
On Tuesday, report cards will be coming home for all students. Tuesday is also Book Fair Family Night. Students are invited to visit the Book Fair with family members anytime between 4:00 and 7:00.
A reminder that the tardy bell rings daily at 8:55am daily, and we strive to have all students in their classrooms, in their seats by 8:55.
Afternoon carpool has been finishing up earlier each day, and we respectfully request that all parents arrive on campus no later than 4:15pm. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
