Have a great Spring Break!
Good afternoon,
Bus 755 will be replaced by Bus 467. Have a happy and safe spring break and we will see you on April 9th.
Good Evening Bulldogs, I have three important reminders. 1. Student-Led Conferences are tomorrow! Your child's teacher should have sent home information with appropriate timing and/or appointments. 2. Spring Break starts on Friday. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 9. 3. You should have received documentation about our Spring Student Survey for Grades 3-5. We use this data to help us make WCES the best it can be but do need you to determine if you'd like your child to take part in the survey or not. Please return the form ASAP so that we can get it organized in time for the surveys to begin. Please have a safe and restful Spring Break and we look forward to finishing the year strong as we show how much we have Leveled Up throughout 2023-2024.
Hello!
This is your principal, Paige Barnes, with an important announcement regarding the upcoming road closure that will affect some of our bus routes and daily commutes.
Please be advised that beginning at 8:00 AM on April 1, 2024, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin construction on Buffalo Creek bridge along Covered Bridge Road in Northern Johnston County. Due to the construction, Cover Bridge Road will be closed in both directions, near Prestwood Lane. The project is expected to be continuous from April 1, 2024 to October 28, 2024.
The closure will have a direct impact on 11 schools, including ours. We will not be certain until we begin to experience the delays, but it is estimated that detours could add 15-40 minutes of travel time for some routes.
Our transportation department will provide some direct guidance to families on how commuters can prepare for the upcoming changes. The Edulog Parent Portal will reflect the closure and affected routes will be automatically re-routed by the software. Families have also been advised that stop times within the Edulog Parent Portal software will be altered immediately; however, the new route changes will not take place until April 8, 2024.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we make adjustments to navigate the closure.
Thank you and have a great day.
Congratulations to our Battle of the Books team. They worked hard to read 15 books and answered many questions to prepare for this year's battles. They came in 6th place out of 22 teams. We are proud of all of their hard work!
Great Turnout for our Movie Night! What a wonderful way to finish out the week.
Good Evening Bulldogs!
I am calling with some important information. We do have Class and Individual Spring Pictures tomorrow. A paper went home previously with information on how to place orders for pictures and review them prior to purchase. Money will not be collected at school. All students will be included in our class group photo! Also, our PTA Movie Night is still on for tomorrow night but has been moved indoors and will take place in the gym.
Thank you.

Good morning,
Due to the railroad crossing closure at Highway 42 and 70, there could be possible delays this afternooon. Buses are being rerouted, which may cause delays arriving to school and making stops.
