Good evening parents and students! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Thanksgiving Elementary School, with some important information. Alright, here we go! Tomorrow is the first day of school for our 1st through 5th grade students. Students can enter the building at 8:30am (that earliest that students can enter the building throughout our school year). We will allow for any 1st through 5th grade parents that need to walk their child to class to do so tomorrow. However, starting on Tuesday, August 27th, only students will be allowed to enter the building unless you are volunteering or have a meeting. Dismissal will be at 3:55pm tomorrow and everyday. If you are new to our school and have not experienced carpool or our weapons detection systems we have in place, please visit our school's website. On the homepage in one of the banner images you will see a link for carpool and another one for our security measures. It may be good for you to watch those brief videos before tomorrow. We have our Kindergarten Open House tomorrow from 6pm to 7pm for our kindergarten parents. Good evening parents and students! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Thanksgiving Elementary School, with some important information. I am excited that our 1st through 5th grade students will return to school this coming Monday, August 26th. Our doors will open at 8:30am. We will allow parents for our 1st through 5th grade students to walk your child to their classroom if you need to on Monday, but starting on Tuesday, August 27th only the students will be allowed to enter the building. We will allow our Kindergarten parents to walk their child to the classroom on the day they will come for their orientation day (either next Wednesday or next Thursday) and also on next Friday (their first day of school), but starting on Tuesday, September 3rd just students will be allowed to enter the building. Also, please be patient with us for carpool pick up in the afternoon next week. It will go slower that it will the remainder of the year as we get our students back into a routine and we get our kindergarten students acclimated to the dismissal process. If your child is riding a bus, please know the pick up and drop off times will vary the first few weeks as they are adding students to routes. Please have students at the stop around 15 minutes prior to the time on the bus pass and know the drop off time may be around 15 minutes off of the drop off time on the bus pass. Please make sure you download the bus app and the Bus Remind system so you have information on any delays or changes. Our Kindergarten Open House will be next Monday, August 26th from 6pm to 7pm for kindergarten parents. We will begin in the cafeteria and then you will go to your child's classroom. We do ask that only parents attend this event if possible due to the information being shared. The students will do their orientation day on either Wednesday or Thursday. Good evening parents and students! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Thanksgiving Elementary School, with some important information. I can't wait to see all of our 1st through 5th grade students tomorrow evening for our Open House. Here are some important details in regards to tomorrow's Open House that will help. First, you will visit your child's teacher in the room number that was indicated on the postcard you received in the mail. If for some reason you did not receive a post card you can call our office tomorrow prior to Open House and we will be happy to give you that information or you can ask a staff member in our front hallway when you arrive to Open House and we can help you then too. If you need help with buses or to register for before or after school care we will have staff in our cafeteria. Our PTA will have a information table in the front hallway, please stop by and sign up to be a part of our PTA. We will have representatives for boy scouts and girl scouts in the hallway going to the cafeteria if you would be interested in those programs. We are also excited to announce that we are bringing our Backpack Buddy program to help provide food for families in need. You are welcome to donate non-perishable food items tomorrow at our Open House for that program as well. We will have a collection site just outside our front entrance. We will also have a slushy food truck at our front entrance so you can get a cold treat after visiting our Open House. Parking will be tough, so if there are not any more spaces available, you are welcome to park on the grass areas and you can use the right hand lane of our two-lane carpool entrance up to the white line before getting to the front of our building. But please only use the right lane to park, we have to have one lane free for emergency vehicles if they are needed. It is hard to believe another school year is here and I can't wait to see you all tomorrow!

This is a reminder that we have our Open House for our 1st through 5th grade students this Thursday, August 22nd. Students with last names starting with A through L will attend from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Students with last names starting with M through Z will attend from 6pm to 7pm. We will have a food truck for slushies for you to get a cold treat on your way out from Open House. If you are in need of before school or after school care, please visit our cafeteria on Open House night to register. The registration fee is $10 for before or after care, but if you are registering for both it is $15. August payment is $33 and the county has increased the cost to $140 each month for each program this school year. The first day of school for our 1st through 5th grade students is Monday, August 26th. Our Kindergarten Open House will be on Monday, August 26th. We did have to move the times back to make sure we have enough parking and we have finished are carpool and bus dismissal with the 26th being our first day of school for our 1st through 5th grade students. The kindergarten teachers will be calling the students assigned to them by this Friday, August 23rd. In that phone call they will be letting parents know what day their child will attend for their orientation day (either Wednesday, August 28th or Thursday, August 29th). Our teachers have returned for our beginning of the year workdays and they have been working very hard in trainings and getting their classrooms ready for our students. We have sent postcards for our 1st through 5th grade families with your child's teacher and classroom number in the mail earlier this week. You should be receiving them no later than next Monday. If you did not receive a postcard by Monday, please call our office and we can share that information with you. The details for our 1st through 5th Open House that is scheduled for next Thursday, August 22nd is also on the postcard. We are having to make a slight change to our Kindergarten Open House Night on Monday, August 26th. We will be having that Open House from 6pm to 7pm now instead of 5pm to 6pm. This will allow for more time any siblings to make if home from the first day of school and would make sure that there would be more parking available. So please come to this event at 6pm; that may make it easier coming from work as well. I can't wait to see all of you very soon and I hope you have a wonderful evening!

It is hard to believe that we are just about a month away from the start of the 2024-2025 school year. I wanted to let you all know that the school supply lists for this upcoming school year are on our website on the homepage linked to the one of the banner images. These will help you with your back to school shopping. I also want to make sure you all know the dates and times for our Open House. Our 1st through 5th grade Open House will be on Thursday, August 22nd. Students with last names starting with A through L will attend from 4:30pm to 5:30pm; and students with last names starting with M through Z will attend from 6pm to 7pm. This will help our parking situation since it is limited. You will receive a post card with your child's teacher and homeroom number in the mail by Tuesday, August 20th. Our Kindergarten Open House will be on Monday, August 26th from 5pm to 6pm. Parents will be receiving a call from their child's teacher by Friday, August 23rd. It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of this school year. Tomorrow, Thursday, June 6th, is the last day of school for students. Tomorrow is also an early release day- carpool and buses will be dismissed at 1:55pm. Also, we do NOT have after school care tomorrow. Please mark your calendars for the following dates- Thursday, August 22nd will be our Open House for our 1st through 5th grade students. Students with last names starting with A-L will attend from 4:30pm to 5:30pm; students with last names starting with M-Z will attend from 6pm to 7pm. Our Kindergarten Open House will be on Monday, August 26th from 5pm to 6pm. I hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable summer! Good evening parents and students! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Thanksgiving Elementary School, with some important information. I wanted to remind all of you that this Thursday, June 6th is the last day of school for students. We have an early release on June 6th as well- carpool and buses will be dismissed at 1:55pm. Also, please know that we Do Not have after school care on June 6th. Report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, June 6th. We will hold onto the report cards for students that still owe for before or after school care or damaged books. Parents will need to come up to the school to make a payment to receive their report cards. Our 5th grade promotion ceremony is this Wednesday, June 5th at 9:30am. We will allow families to start entering the building at 9am. Please make sure that any guests who are attending have their ID; and if there is anyone who is attending who is not listed on the student information sheet they must be with the parent/guardian when checking in. Once we run out of parking in our parking lot you can park on the grass or use the right hand lane of our two lane carpool driveway. We need to keep one lane completely open just in case we need fire or rescue on campus. Today is the last day for 2nd and 3rd grade students who are eligible to attend Summer Reading Camp to register. If you have received a letter from your child's teacher with the link to register and you would like them to attend summer learning, please use the link today (if you have not already done so) to make sure they are able to attend. And finally, we still have about 200 books that need to be returned to the library. If your child has a book from our library still at home, please have them return it by tomorrow. Good evening parents and students! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Thanksgiving Elementary School, with some important information. Our 5th grade students will be taking the science EOG tomorrow. Please make sure they get plenty of rest and a good breakfast. We have free breakfast if they do not have time to eat at home tomorrow morning. This Friday, May 31st, is our next Caps/Pajama Bottoms for a Cause day. Students can wear school appropriate hats and pajama bottoms with the donation of $1 that will go to help a family in need in our community. My last few updates have had the dates and times of our end of year awards and celebrations for each grade level. I just wanted to remind everyone to please make sure they have their ID when they check in to go to the awards ceremony. If there is an adult coming to one of the awards that is not listed on the Student Information sheet filled out by our parents and guardians at the beginning of the school year, please make sure they are with the parent or legal guardian when they check in. We want to make sure that every adult visitor on campus has approval from the parents/guardians to be on campus and around your child. Our 3rd through 5th grade students will take their Reading EOG tomorrow and their Math EOG on Friday. Our 5th grade students will take their Science EOG on Wednesday, May 29th. Please help make sure that the students get a good night sleep and have a good breakfast in the mornings. We do have free breakfast for the students if they are not able to eat at home. I also wanted to make sure that you are all aware of the date and times of our awards/celebrations. PreK awards will be in the classroom on June 3rd at 9:30am. Kindergarten awards will be in the classrooms on May 30th at 11:45am. 1st grade awards will be in the classrooms on May 31st at 10:30am. 2nd grade awards will be in the classrooms on June 4th at 1:45pm. 3rd grade awards will be in the classrooms on June 3rd at 11:30am. 4th grade awards will be in the classrooms on June 4th at 11:45am. 5th grade promotion ceremony will take place on June 5th at 9:30am in our gymnasium. Please make sure you bring your ID to check in a visitor on the day of your child's awards. If there is an adult attending an awards celebration that is not listed in PowerSchool or on the Student Information Sheets, they must be with the legal parent/guardian when signing in. Safety is my biggest priority and I want to make sure that everyone on campus on these days have permission to be here and around your child. And finally, I wanted to make sure that all of you know that we do not have school on Monday, May 27th. Students and staff will not have school since it is the Memorial Day Holiday.
