Cleveland High School

Due to the forecast for inclement weather, Johnston County Public Schools will be closed for all students and staff on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, and all extracurricular activities have been canceled. The district will operate under Condition 4 of the inclement weather plan. Condition 4 is the Remote Learning Day option. As a reminder: All assignments offered during remote learning days will be enhancement/enrichment type activities. No assignments will receive a grade, but will be reviewed. Parents who have questions should contact their child’s teacher via email. As always, safety is our top priority as we follow the guidance of local safety and emergency officials. 2/18/25 Coach White: The Cleveland Varsity Women's basketball team lost a close back and forth game in the 1st round of the conference tournament 53-58 against Willow spring. The Rams were led by 19 points from Lia Dunn, 15 pts form Nevaeh Cannon and 10 points from Izzy Sholar. Currently the team is qualified for the state play offs and will play at a place to be determined on Saturday. Happy FFA Week! 2/14/25 Students and staff: Today we want to show some love to Deputy Fuentes for SRO Appreciation Day! Make sure you give him a high 5! The teachers scored an epic win in dodge ball last night against the juniors. Congratulations and thanks to all who came out to play in last night's games. Make sure to come out to watch basketball against Clayton for tonight's senior night!. Ms. Barnhart: Counselors will offer CCP application help during Ramped-up A and B on Thursday, February 20th. 2/13/25 Congratulations to the faculty basketball team on their win last night in overtime over the student team resulting in the fifth straight win! Student Council: We see several teams and colleges being repped today and love it. Be sure to show the love for Cleveland tomorrow in you favorite Cleveland wear or red! 2/12/25 Ms. Barnhart: There will be a Virtual Student/Parent CCP Information Session Thursday evening online at 6:30pm. The link to join is on the school website. This session will cover information about what CCP is, eligibility, and how you can apply. If you are interested in college courses as a high school student, please make plans to log on Thursday. Anything but a back pack day is a hit with some funny and creative ideas. Thursday wear your favorite team& or college gear! Then finish the week off strong by wearing your sleeve and showing your love for Cleveland by wearing red or your Cleveland spirit! Coach White: The Cleveland Varsity Women's Basket Ball team lost a heart fought game at South Garner 58-69. The Rams were led by 22pts from Lia Dunn and a 15 point Double-Double from Martina Paz-Aquino. We are back on the court Friday night senior night against Clayton, please come out and support our 5 seniors! Congratulations to the Men's Basketball team on picking up their 17th win of the season! Rams were led by Jabari Green with 24 points. Last home game of the year on Friday against rival Clayton!

2/10/25 FFA Members!! Next week is FFA Week! Check out our Instagram and the posters around the building to find out our themes and when our meetings are. 2/7/25 Congratulations to the indoor Track & Field teams, where the men's team is the conference runner-up and the Women's team is the conference champion! New School records were set by Ana Toy in the 500m . Run, the 4x200m Relay of Samantha Hood, Kennedy Hinton, Ana Toy, and Landy Lee, and the 4x400m Relay of Ana Toy, Maddie Smith, Dekjah Middleton, and Kennedy Hinton! And Freshman Luke Bell won Male Conference Athlete of the year! Go Rams! Get ready for some fun with Coming Home Week! Come out and watch the guys dig deep on the court Monday night at Volley bros and the teachers take on students during the faculty- students basketball game on Wednesday. Then may the best grade (or teachers) win during the dodgeball tournament! Next week is our Coming Home Week. Join the fun and dress the part. 2/6/25 Coach White: The Varsity Women's Basketball team picked up their 9th win of the season with 1 78-29 win over rival Clayton. The 78 points are the most ever in a game in school history. The Rams were also led on a record setting night by career & most points in a game high of 31 points by Lia Dunn. A 16 point, 12 rebound double-double from Izzy Sholar and 13 points from Nevaeh Cannon. We are back at home Friday against Garner. The Application window for CCP is now open. 2/5/25 Coach White: The Varsity Women's Basketball team lost a close hard fought game last night 46-49 at Willow Spring. The Rams were led 17 points from Lia Dunn & 14 points from Nevaeh Cannon. We are back on the court tonight at 6 pm against cross town rival Clayton. Ms. Rose: Missed out on Early Bird Prom sales, March 3rd. for $60. 2/3/25 Coach White: The Varsity Women's basketball team picked up their 8th win of the season, with a 61-29 victory over Corinth Holders. The Rams were led by 24 pts from Lia Dunn, 11pts from Nevaeh Cannon and 16 Rebounds from Izzy Sholar. We start a 4 game week tomorrow night at Willow Spring. Mr. Miller: Good morning, CVHS students! 1/28/25 BSU: Attention all students that are interested in joining BSU: Your $15 and your member form are due by Friday January 31st before 11 am; bring exact cash of a check made out to Cleveland High School. Sign up for ramped up in Huffman 616 or Meyer 702. Also, all BSU members presenting in the Black History Program, your slides and script are due ASAP. Copy and paste the links for these into the Black History Program Google Doc you received by mail. If you have problems, contact Ms. Myers or Ms. Huffman. Attention Seniors! Cap and gown pricing goes up on February 1st. That's this Saturday! If you have not ordered yet, make sure you do by the end of the week. The Freshmen Student Council Association invites you to attend CvHS annual Faculty Student Basketball Game on Wednesday, February 12th @7:15 in the main Gym. Admission is $3 and can be purchased on Home Towne Ticketing. Concessions will also be available for purchase! If you are interested in playing on the Student Team, sign up to play by February 3rd. The Rams were led by 20 pts. from Lia Dunn, a 16 points 16 rebound double -double by Martina Paz-Aquino+13 pts.for Nevaeh Cannon. The 13 pts for Nevaeh Cannon made her Cleveland Women's Basketball's all time leading scorer! Congrats to Nevaeh, her accomplishment will be celebrated prior to our home game on Friday against Corinth Holders. The Rams are back on the court tonight at Fuquay-Varina. Congratulation to Coach McIver and the Wrestling team on winning Conference and congratulations to the boys for placing second.

Due to the hazardous road conditions caused by the recent winter weather event, Johnston County Public Schools will be closed for all students tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2025, as well as all extracurricular activities. The district will operate under Condition 3 of the inclement weather plan. For JCPS staff, this day will become an optional teacher workday. Schools and county offices will open at 10 AM. As always, safety is our primary concern and after driving our roadways and receiving guidance from local safety officials and NCDOT, we have been advised that though the main roads within high-traffic areas may be clear, many secondary roads within the rural areas of the county are expected to still have hazardous conditions through Friday, making them unsafe for JCPS transportation use. In addition, many of our campuses have shaded walkways, parking lots, and areas that must continue to be assessed by our operational staff before students may safely return. Extracurricular activities and community facility use will resume on Saturday morning, however, we still encourage site visitors to travel safely and be cautious while on campus, particularly in shaded areas. Have a great weekend everyone and make the most of what is left of the snow!

1/21/25 The DLL is closed this week for Access Testing. Students should check their Ramped Up locations. Block classes are in the Media Center unless noted differently by your teacher.
