Good luck and we're rooting for you!🥇

Our Coin Wars have finished, and they were a HUGE success! 2nd Grade came up on top, but EVERYONE did such a great job participating in this fun event. Students raised almost $5,000.00 total for their grade levels to use for End of Year needs. Way to go everyone!
Tomorrow begins Spring Break for all JCPS schools. Students will return to school on Tuesday, April 9th.

We want to give a huge shout out to our RDE Battle of the Books Team for their amazing 2nd place finish at the JCPS Battle of the Books Finals competition. This was the highest placement ever for RDE, and we are so proud of all of our team members and their coaches for the hard work and preparation they put into this. Congratulations, we are proud of you!
Tomorrow is the final day of COIN WARS! The students have loved this contest, and we have enjoyed watching them participating each day. Currently our Kindergarten is in the lead, followed by 3rd, then 2nd, next is 1st, then EC & PreK, then 5th, and then 4th. Who will take the lead on our final day?? We can't wait to see how the race to the top plays out tomorrow morning! Good luck to all!

Hello Racer Families, this is Ms. Durko with some updates on Field Day.
Our School Improvement Leadership Team met today to discuss the upcoming Field Day plans. At this time the forecast for Wednesday is showing an 81% chance of rain, and the forecast for Thursday is showing 100% chance of rain.
We have made the difficult decision to cancel Field Day on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, in order to celebrate the final day of school before Spring Break, we want to invite everyone at RDE to wear PJ's and the PTA will be providing all students with popcorn on that day as well. Students will get to enjoy popcorn and a movie in their classrooms on Thursday. We know that students will be disappointed, but rest assured that this decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff.
We hope you have a great night, and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer.
Good evening Racer Families, this is Ms. Durko with some updates and reminders for the week ahead.
Tomorrow is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day, and we would like everyone, staff and students, to wear GREEN tomorrow for this special day honoring some amazing people.
On Tuesday, our awesome RDE Battle of the Books Team competes in the JCPS Battle of the Books Competition. We know they will be amazing and we want to wish all the members and their coaches the best of luck!
On Wednesday afternoon, we will have Field Day for our PreK-2nd Grade students, and on Thursday afternoon we will have Field Day for our 3rd-5th grade students.
Spring Break begins on Friday, and students will return to school on Tuesday, April 9th.
As we wrap up this 3rd Quarter, we want to give another reminder that students should make every effort to be in their classrooms when instruction begins at 8:55 each morning. Carpool begins rolling every day at 8:25, and our School Resource Officer is a big help getting everyone out onto Buffalo Road safely. One last reminder that no students should ever be dropped off using the bus driveway at the top of the hill. If students arrive in a car, they should go through the carpool line each day. Thank you for your cooperation with this as the bus driveway should be for buses, daycare vans, and PreK students only.
We can't wait to finish up the week strong, and we can't wait to see everyone wearing GREEN tomorrow. Remember once a Racer, always a Racer, have a nice evening.
RDE Staff & Students: remember to wear your CRAZY SOCKS tomorrow for World Down Syndrome Day!!
Coin Wars is a fundraiser where grade-level teams compete against each other to earn the most points. Students bring in cash and pennies to place in their team jar for positive points and silver coins to decrease the amount of points in other teams’ jars. Of course, in the end, everyone wins as the proceeds will be divided between grade levels.
Collection buckets will be located in the front hallway each morning from 8:25-9:00.
The money in each bucket will be counted and tallied each day and updates will be posted in the school and on our River Dell PTA Facebook page.
Tomorrow is Caps/PJ Bottoms for a Cause!! Help support RDE families in need! $1 to wear a hat and/or PJ Bottoms!
Help a RDE family in need! Send in $1 to wear a cap or PJ bottoms to school!

On Monday, 3/11 our RDE Battle of the Books Team will be competing against other JCPS Elementary teams for their Preliminaries. The team members and their coaches, Mrs. Cunningham and Mr. Contos, have been working hard each week to prepare, and we know they are going to do great!

This week is Read Across America Week and we are celebrating each day with exciting themes and events. Monday, all students will have the opportunity to decorate a bookmark to keep and use as they are reading. Tuesday there is NO SCHOOL FOR JCPS STUDENTS due to it being voting day, and River Dell, along with some other schools, is a polling site. Wednesday is Wild About Reading Day, and students and staff are invited to dress in crazy colors or animal prints. Thursday is Thank You, Dr. Seuss Day, and students and staff are invited to dress in outfits to represent their favorite Dr. Seuss Book. On Friday, we will welcome special guest readers to River Dell. Also, Friday is Fictional Fashion Show, and students and staff are invited to dress as your favorite fictional character.
We have an upcoming PTA Meeting for RDE families to attend. It is on Tuesday, March 12th from 6:00-7:00 at Boba Beans Bistro.
Morning carpool has been running really smoothly and we can see that quite a few families are trying to get in and out during that wide open 8:35-8:45 time period. Another friendly reminder that our tardy bell rings at 8:55, and teachers would love to have students in their seats at 8:55 so that they can begin teaching as close to 8:55 as possible. In addition, we want to kindly remind our afternoon carpool families to arrive on campus by 4:15 each day.
We hope everyone has a wonderful week. Remember, once a Racer, always a Racer. Have a good night.
Good evening RDE families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders.
Progress Reports will be going home with all JCPS students tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28th.
Tomorrow morning our PTA will be selling Spirit Sticks for $1.00 each and Stickers for $0.50 each before school in the front hallway.
We wanted to share some information for carpool families that we feel would be helpful and informative. Carpool begins each morning at 8:25am. The Tardy bell rings at 8:55am. We have been watching each morning and it seems as though a great time to arrive to get in and out of carpool quickly is between 8:30 and 8:40. Cars can enter and exit quite easily between those times each morning and students also have plenty of time to get breakfast and get to class on time. Thanks to all of our carpool staff and volunteers that are present helping every morning and afternoon rain, sleet, or shine. We appreciate you!
We hope everyone has a great night and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer.
JCPS Progress Reports will come home on WEDNESDAY, 2/28/24.
Good evening River Dell families, I hope you've had a great weekend. Here are some announcements and reminders for the week.
This week Progress Reports will be coming home on Tuesday, February 27th.
Our PTA will be selling Spirit Sticks for $1.00 a piece on Wednesday morning in the front hallway before school.
We also wanted to remind all Racer families that breakfast and lunch are free every day, for every student. We hope your students will take advantage of this amazing opportunity daily.
The Johnston County Public Schools annual Job Fair will be this Saturday, March 2nd at Smithfield Selma High School from 9:00-12:00.
A reminder that JCPS is requesting your feedback on some updated calendar options. There is a Community Feedback Form on the JCPS website and we encourage all families to complete the feedback form in regard to the 3 calendar options.
Finally, we want to remind all families that Tuesday, March 5th is Election Day, and RDE is a voting site. There will be no school for students on this day, as it will be a JCPS Teacher Workday.
We hope everyone has a great evening, and a great week ahead. Remember once a Racer, always a Racer. Have a nice night.
