Thank you to everyone who has purchased Valentine Grams from our Student Government Association. They are going to be able to make a wonderful donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Tomorrow morning will be the last opportunity for students to purchase Valentine Grams. The SGA will be selling them before school in the front hallway for $1.00 a piece.
It is hard to believe but tomorrow is the 100th day of school! It doesn't seem very long ago that our students walked through the doors to meet their teachers for Open House, and now we are over half of the way through the school year.
Our collection of coats, lunch boxes, and water bottles continues to grow in our school Lost and Found. Parents, you are welcome to come into school anytime during the day and get a visitor sticker to go down and search for missing items.
Another friendly reminder that every day, for every child, breakfast and lunch are free. There are some amazing choices for both breakfast and lunch each day, and we encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity.
We have some teacher workdays coming up and I want to make sure you put these dates on your calendars. There will be no school for students on the following dates: February 19th and March 5th. Our school is actually a designated voting site on March 5th.
On Saturday, February 17th, we will have our GLOW DANCE. This is an absolute favorite event for all of our students in all grades. PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and EC students have their dance from 1:00-2:30, 2nd and 3rd Grade from 3:30-5:00, and 4th and 5th Grade from 6:00-8:00. We still need volunteers to help with the dance.

We have had a great start to the week and students have been engaged each day and working hard.
Please make sure to turn on your notifications for the JCPS app so that you will be alerted in a timely manner of updates from your child's teachers as well as updates from our school, our PTA, and JCPS.
Our PTA will be selling Spirit Sticks and Stickers before school tomorrow.
Our Student Government will have Valentine Gram sales on Wednesday AFTER school in the media center, and Thursday BEFORE school in the front hallway. If any students are interested in buying Valentine Grams AFTER school tomorrow, we ask that a parent accompanies them into the Media Center. They will be selling after school until 4:30.
If you haven't already, please follow RDE and the RDE PTA on Facebook. We post important updates, great things happening at school, as well as the Daily Video Announcements on there daily.
We also wanted to let everyone know that Report Cards will be coming home on Monday, February 5th. Please make sure to sign the envelope, keep the report card, and return the signed envelope to school. If there are any additional papers that require a signature, those may be returned in the yellow report card envelope as well.

We have a short week this week for students. Thursday and Friday this week are teacher workdays and on those two days there is no school for students.
This Wednesday is the last day of the 2nd quarter.
We will be having a fundraiser sponsored by our Student Government starting next Monday, January 29th. Students will be able to purchase friendship bracelets, slap bracelets, keychains, water bottle stickers, and lollipops for $1.00 each for their friends and teachers. All proceeds will go to support St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Tomorrow is Caps and PJ Bottoms for a Cause. Students and Staff may pay $1 to wear a hat and/or pj bottoms tomorrow. All proceeds go to an RDE family in need.
We also wanted to remind everyone that the 2nd quarter ends on Wednesday, January 24th. There is no school for students next Thursday or Friday, as JCPS will have 2 teacher workdays on those dates.

Ozzy Blais received a January Character Education Award for Self Discipline!
A fifth grader at River Dell Elementary, he has shown tremendous growth and success in his time at River Dell. This is due to his work ethic and perseverance. He is a humble student, never asking for recognition. Blais never wants anyone to feel left out. He just wants to be his best, and to help others in their quest to be their best as well.

Under the guidance of local emergency officials and out of an abundance of caution, JCPS will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Everyone is encouraged to drive with caution when traveling.

For students following the traditional school calendar, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 is an early release day. Then students will be out of school from Thursday, December 21, 2023 - Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 2, 2024.
