Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role. Good evening RDE families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements. Tomorrow is Caps & PJ Bottoms for a Cause. Students may bring in $1.oo to wear a hat and/or PJ bottoms all day tomorrow. All proceeds will go to RDE families in need. Monday, February 19th is Presidents' Day and also a Teacher Workday, and there will be no school for students. Lastly, Saturday is the RDE GLOW DANCE!! There is so much excitement buzzing about this fun event. The PTA is still in need of parent volunteers to set up and work at the dance. They will begin setting up on Friday after school, and they will arrive here on Saturday morning to finish preparations. Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements and reminders for the week. We are looking forward to a great week ahead. Students enjoyed celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday with many activities and special events. This Saturday is our Glow Dance, and it promises to be loads of fun. From 1:00-2:30 we invite our PreK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and EC students to come out for their dance. Then 2nd and 3rd graders are invited to come out to their dance from 3:30-5:00, followed by the 4th and 5th grade dance from 6:00-8:00. Just a reminder that all students must be accompanied by an adult who will stay through the entirety of their dance. If you have middle school or high school children who need volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity to earn them! We are thankful for our volunteers, as we couldn't pull this off without you. Good evening River Dell families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements and reminders. Thank you to everyone who has purchased Valentine Grams from our Student Government Association. They are going to be able to make a wonderful donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Tomorrow morning will be the last opportunity for students to purchase Valentine Grams. The SGA will be selling them before school in the front hallway for $1.00 a piece. It is hard to believe but tomorrow is the 100th day of school! It doesn't seem very long ago that our students walked through the doors to meet their teachers for Open House, and now we are over half of the way through the school year. Our collection of coats, lunch boxes, and water bottles continues to grow in our school Lost and Found. Parents, you are welcome to come into school anytime during the day and get a visitor sticker to go down and search for missing items. Another friendly reminder that every day, for every child, breakfast and lunch are free. There are some amazing choices for both breakfast and lunch each day, and we encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity. We have some teacher workdays coming up and I want to make sure you put these dates on your calendars. There will be no school for students on the following dates: February 19th and March 5th. Our school is actually a designated voting site on March 5th. On Saturday, February 17th, we will have our GLOW DANCE. This is an absolute favorite event for all of our students in all grades. PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and EC students have their dance from 1:00-2:30, 2nd and 3rd Grade from 3:30-5:00, and 4th and 5th Grade from 6:00-8:00. Good evening River Dell Families, this is your principal, Ms. Durko with some announcements and reminders. We have had a great start to the week and students have been engaged each day and working hard. Please make sure to turn on your notifications for the JCPS app so that you will be alerted in a timely manner of updates from your child's teachers as well as updates from our school, our PTA, and JCPS. Our PTA will be selling Spirit Sticks and Stickers before school tomorrow. Our Student Government will have Valentine Gram sales on Wednesday AFTER school in the media center, and Thursday BEFORE school in the front hallway. If any students are interested in buying Valentine Grams AFTER school tomorrow, we ask that a parent accompanies them into the Media Center. They will be selling after school until 4:30. If you haven't already, please follow RDE and the RDE PTA on Facebook. We post important updates, great things happening at school, as well as the Daily Video Announcements on there daily. We also wanted to let everyone know that Report Cards will be coming home on Monday, February 5th. Please make sure to sign the envelope, keep the report card, and return the signed envelope to school. If there are any additional papers that require a signature, those may be returned in the yellow report card envelope as well.
